At the beginning of the 20th century, a new wave of European immigrants arrived in Quebec and Montreal. Thousands of Italians arrived with their traditions, values and customs, forming one of the oldest and most important cultural immigrant communities in Montréal.
To show the important contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of Montréal, as well as the ingenuity, talent and resilience of this community, Pointe-à-Callière, with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute, presents the exhibition “Montréal à l’italienne”.
The exhibition focuses on the daily life of the first Italian immigrants in Montréal and the changes that this community has undergone in the last century, displaying of objects, historical photographs, audiovisual documents and archive documents. Audiovisual projections and theatrical productions add value to the programme.
