As part of La Noche de los Libros, the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid organises the round table ‘One hundred years with Leonardo Sciascia and great Italian authors’.

The meeting will be attended by Aurora Conde, professor at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Manuel Rivero, professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Giuseppe Grosso, editor at the publisher Altamarea.

The round table is an opportunity to reflect on the long and indelible legacy that Sciascia left to universal literature, and on the writer’s relationship with other great authors of Italian and Sicilian tradition more specifically. Pirandello, Vittorini, Quasimodo, Tomasi di Lampedusa, Camilleri and Nigro: a constellation of literary figures that goes beyond every limiting or regionalist perspective, to assert itself on the contrary as a fundamental stage in the process of building European cultural identity.
