He has created iconic worlds and mythical places, such as the Nevada desert and the legendary Area 51 in ‘Tito e gli Alieni’ by Paola Randi, along with the underground, disturbing Rome in ‘Suburra’ by Stefano Sollima. Paki Meduri, Italian set designer and winner of the 2016 Nastri d’Argento, will be guest star at the week of cinema promoted by the Consulate General of Italy in Sao Paulo.
The festival, which is part of the ‘Fare Cinema’ 2021, will include the screening of two Italian films in which the sets were designed by Paki Meduri: ‘Padrenostro’ (2020) and ‘Tito e gli Alieni’ (2017). The two screenings will be available online, intended primarily for the young Italian language students from schools and universities in São Paulo. The students will then carry out assignments and in-depth studies on cinematography, the films and the topics they address. The week will end with two online seminars with set designer Paki Meduri, on the YouTube channel of the Consulate.
The initiative is organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Sao Paulo and six partners of the Consulate General of Italy in Sao Paulo: the two major Universities of the State of Sao Paulo where Italian is taught (USP and UniCamp), the “Eugenio Montale” Italian School, the Dante Alighieri Italian School, the Palmeiras football team and the CIEE (School-Business Integration Center).
