To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the attacks in Capaci and Via D’Amelio, the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris will present on 23 May the French stage of the touring show by Claudio Fava entitled ‘L’ultima estate. Falcone e Borsellino 30 anni dopo’ (The last summer: Falcone and Borsellino 30 years later).
The author traces the final months of the lives of the two magistrates with a text written as a civil diary of two men, rather than two heroes.
‘The last summer’ is directed by Chiara Callegari and interpreted by Simone Luglio and Giovanni Santangelo, and is produced by the Teatro Metastasio in Prato in collaboration with Chinnicchinnacchi Teatro and Collegamenti Festival.
The project retraces known and lesser known, public and intimate facts, to tell the story, beyond the news stories and without indulging in commiseration, of the strength of these two men; their humanity, their profound sense of the state, but also the joy, the irony, the anger and above all the loneliness to which they were condemned.
Telling the story of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino in their most authentic and everyday dimension, which does not detract from the sense of their battle, there is the increasingly forceful question posed to the conscience of the spectator: what is the task that awaits us, now and today?
