The festival, which is organized and promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Melbourne in collaboration with the Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna and Astor Theatre-Palace Cinema, starts on 2 April.
‘In that word Pasolini also meant the mystery of reality, that is to say the obscurity of the passions and the irrationality of individuals, the unexpressed that is hidden in history and in the identity of an ego and that cinema can suggest with the close-up of a glance or with an action of the body where the secret of a drive that defies logic emerges.
We have created a journey through Pasolini’s cinema through various sections where his films are compared to those of other authors who inspired him or were inspired by his films’ – Roberto Chiesi.
‘Pier Paolo Pasolini: a cinema of poetry’ is curated by Roberto Chiesi, Angelo Gioè and Andrea Morini in collaboration with Francesca Zammit, Giovanna Giordani and Luca Maria Esposito.
