As part of the ninth edition of the ‘Vizualizator’ Photography Festival, promoted by the Centre for the Development of Photography in Belgrade, the Italian Cultural Institute of Belgrade presents the exhibition ‘RHOME’, a journey through the multiple microcosms of Rome by the Italian-French duo Jean-Marc Caimi and Valentina Piccinni. Far from the stereotypical tourist image of the Italian capital, ‘RHOME’ reveals the more intimate and unfamiliar sides of the city.
Jean-Marc Caimi and Valentina Piccinni have worked together since 2013 on documentary and personal photography projects. They deal with contemporary issues, focusing on the human aspects of each story. They have had several solo exhibitions in Europe and Asia. Their photos regularly appear in the international press. They have received numerous awards, including the PHmuseum Of Humanity Grant 2020 in the ‘Solo Show’ category, the Sony World Photography Award 2019 in the ‘Discovery’ category, the Istanbul 2018 Photo Book Award, the 2016 Rubber Grant for the best black and white documentary. They have published five books including a trilogy on cities in transition: ‘Güle Güle’ on Istanbul, ‘RHOME’ on Rome and ‘Forcella’ on Naples.
The ‘RHOME’ photographic exhibition will open on Tuesday 23 November at the Progres Gallery in Belgrade.
