All around the world, 2021 was an occasion to reflect on the legacy of Dante Alighieri, on the 700th anniversary of his death.
Now that the year is drawing to a close, the Italian Cultural Institute of Bratislava is offering its Slovak audience a special lecture on the work, figure and myth of the Italian poet, who has spanned the centuries not only due to greatness of his poetry, but also because of his extraordinary humanity.
Starting from 20 December, the lectures from the ‘Rocker Dante’ series will be made available on the Institute’s Facebook page. This is being organized by the Italian Cultural Institute on the occasion of the 22nd Week of the Italian Language in the World, in order to bring the father of the Italian language to certain high schools in Bratislava. The lecture on December 20 was recorded at the Ladislava Sáru high school.
The outstanding teachers who made this initiative possible were two leading figures in contemporary Slovakian culture: Miroslava Vallová, editor and translator of the Divine Comedy, and Robert Roth, a famous actor and artist.
