On the occasion of  Holocaust Remembrance Day 2022, the Italian Cultural Institute of Istanbul and the CIDIM present ‘Shabbat Shalom. Canti e parole di vita’ (Shabbat Shalom. Words and songs of life), an original online concert by the duo Delilah Gutman (vocals) and Refael Negri (violin).

The concert explores the tradition of Yemeni, Sephardi and Klezmer Shabbat songs. These are compositions  from antiquity to the present day, in two thousand seven hundred years of history, in different languages: Hebrew, Judeo-Spanish, Judeo-German (Yiddish). Condensing the complex history of a people, ‘Shabbat Shalom’ reflects on the theme of identity and the importance of memory.

The concert will be  streamed on January 27 from the Synagogue of Casale Monferrato on the Institute’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
