The Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa Culture and Research Centre in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Italy in the Kingdom of Bahrain hosted a concert by soul singer Alessandra Salerno last night, 20 October.

The artist is famous for her unique and authentic genre, born from the fusion of folk, jazz and gospel music. Alessandra Salerno and her quartet take the audience on a journey through the timeless Italian folk repertoire and its greatest singer-songwriter songs. These immortal masterpieces have made popular music a true symbol of Italy throughout the world, a tribute therefore to the great Italian song.

The evening was an enthralling musical journey, from the ancient songs of Sicilian fishermen to popular music, to the most famous Italian songs known throughout the world.

The concert was an opportunity to present some of the most famous traditional Italian songs and also to pay homage to our language.

During her opening speech, the Italian Ambassador to Bahrain, Paola Amadei, recalled the celebration of the Italian Language Week (17-22 October) and the opportunities present in the Kingdom for learning the Italian language, which is attracting increasing interest, particularly among young people. The Ambassador recalled the possibility of learning the Italian language at courses held at the Grazia Deledda Centre.

The concert was a great success and had a full auditorium. Prominent guests who attended the concert included the President of the Centre Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa for Culture and Research, Sheikha Mai bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and other important officials from Bahraini institutions and society.
