On 13 September, the Italian Cultural Institute of Stockholm is holding the launch of the Swedish edition of the book The Mortal Wound by Raffaele La Capria, considered one of the great masterpieces of post-war Italian literature.
The Institute chose to make up for the lack of a Swedish translation of the novel by publishing it in its own series Cartaditalia.
The volume, which came out at the end of 2021 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of winning the Strega Prize, was translated by Vibeke Emond, with a foreword by Silvio Perrella, an expert and friend of Raffaele La Capria, as well as editor of the Meridiano Mondadori on the writer.
A few months on from the death of La Capria, whodied aged almost one hundred, the Institute wishes to honour his memory with an evening dedicated to The Mortal Wound. The event will feature translator Vibeke Emond and Silvio Perrella, and a speech by Luminitza Beiu-Paladi, Emeritus Professor of Italian Literature at the University of Stockholm.
