As part of the initiatives for the centenary of the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini, the Italian Cultural Institute of Marseilles presents ‘Su e Ju’, a musical performance by Alex Grillo and Elsa Martin. The recital reinterprets the Friulian poems of the author from Casarsa, combining them with Provençal sounds. Grillo explores ancient folk cadences and establishes an imaginary continuum between the poetic tradition of the troubadours and Pasolini’s work.

Alex Grillo, a French musician of Friulian origins, is a composer, vibraphonist and improviser. An eclectic artist, he has tried his hand at various  different genres, including jazz, electronics and folk songs.

Elsa Martin is a Friulian singer and composer. She has taken part in numerous competitions and won the Parodi Prize in 2012, the year of the release of her CD ‘vERso’. She was also a finalist at at the Premio Tenco in the ‘debut’ category.
