The Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin will present a jazz concert on 12 July in collaboration with the Accademia Musicale Chigiana and the project ‘Giovani Talenti Musicali Italiani nel Mondo’ (Young Italian Musical Talent in the World), promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Performing will be Tabula Rasa Chigiana – Siena Jazz Ensemble, which was formed in the wake of the courses of the New Sounds section at the Chigiana Summer Academy and in line with the twenty-year tradition of improvisation techniques workshops held at Siena Jazz by Stefano Battaglia. In 2019, the two institutions crossed paths to create a stable performative ensemble, which involves the best talent trained at the two prestigious music schools in Siena. As with any ambitious cultural project, the ensemble intends to break down the boundaries between genres, styles, consolidated practices, with a contemporary vision that aims to bring together the most innovative developments and great musical tradition. The ensemble, directed by Stefano Battaglia and made up of eleven variable-arrangement musicians, made its debut during the Chigiana International Festival 2019 and has already begun performing internationally.
With Cosimo Fiaschi, soprano sax, Stefania Scapin, harp, Stefano Battaglia, piano, percussion Pierluigi Foschi, percussion.
