The artist Luogo Comune at the International Public Art Festival

Categories: Culture and creativity -Visual Arts
A great work of public art to educate and encourage discussion by promoting the arts.

The Italian artist Luogo Comune is taking part in the sixth edition of IPAF – International Public Art Festival, which is held in Cape Town from 23 to 27 February 2022. The artist will be contributing to the creation of a mural during a collective performance by various local and international artists, who will be drawing inspiration from the theme of “Humanity”.

The event is being organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Pretoria together with the Embassy of Italy and Baz Art.

Luogo Comune (Jacopo Ghisoni) is an Italian illustrator and muralist. His works span both indoor and outdoor spaces, making use of a wide variety of mediums. His illustrations appear in magazines, children’s books and in collaborations with art collectives. In addition to his published work, his murals can be admired in Italy, Poland, Austria, England, Spain, Greece and Morocco. His visual language is full of symbolism that combines elements of nature, objects and stories from local tradition. He mostly uses flat colour palettes and a graphic approach as touchstones for discussions of the human condition and reflections on contemporary social issues.
