A volume created to launch new research and reflections on the many ways in which the Catholic Church has managed to keep alive its role as a messenger of the Italian language.

Within the framework of the XXI Week of Italian Language in the World, on October 19 the presentation of the book ‘The Church and Italian: a Path in Time and in the World’, edited by Rita Librandi and published by Il Mulino will take place.  The volume has been made possible by the Embassy of Italy to the Holy See with the contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Besides the editor Rita Librandi (Professor of Italian Linguistics and History of the Italian Language at the University of Naples “L’Orientale”), the other speakers are Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi (Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Claudio Marazzini (President of the Accademia della Crusca) e Msgr. Dario Edoardo Viganò (Vice Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of the Sciences and of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences).
