The city of the future is a ‘circular city’. Where ‘circular’ means thinking of a different relationship between design and materials, imitating natural systems in the recovery of waste, managing to metabolize it.
The theme is central to the meeting organized for 8 July on the occasion of the Italian Design Day 2021 at the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai.
The designated Ambassador of Italian design for Shanghai, Professor Aldo Cibic, will talk about “innovative projects on design and the circular economy”. The discussion, moderated by Roberto Pagani, Scientific Attaché at the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, will be attended by Wei Shaonong (Dean, School of Design, East China Normal University) and Cheng Yingting COO of the Marangoni Institute (China).
If ‘Project and materials’ is the theme of the Italian Design Day 2021, the focus on the concept of ‘circular city’ implies a different conception of the economy, a circular human activity that does not produce waste, but rather uses it as a resource.
The event, whose participation is by invitation, will be an opportunity to preview the Salone del Mobile Milano 2021 and the Triennale Milano 2022.
