On the occasion of the Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Italian Cultural Institute of Bratislava is organizing a screening of ‘Un cielo stellato sopra il ghetto di Roma’ (A Starry Sky Above the Roman Ghetto), a film by Giulio Base, with Bianca Panconi and Daniele Rampello.
The film tells the story of Sofia and a group of Christian and Jewish children, in which the past is intertwined with the present. The discovery of a letter and a mysterious photo of a little girl will lead Sofia and her friends in search of the truth. A story in which pain mingles with hope and in which different religions come together. Trying to unravel the mystery behind that photo, the young protagonists will undertake an adventurous journey through the memory of a part of history that is hard to forget, namely that of the rounding up of the Jewish quarter of Rome. Together, through friendship and memory, they will succeed in transforming all this into an opportunity to discover a new shared perspective.
The film was also presented at the Festival du Cinéma Italien de Montélimar – Le Teil 2021, the Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival – Charleston 2021, the Shanghai International Film Festival 2021 and the 2020 Rome Film Fest.
