Since its opening, the photographic exhibition “My Brilliant Friend. When Literature Appears on Screen”, on display at the Muxin Art Museum in Wuzhen, welcomed more than 25,000 visitors. The public was able to appreciate the characters and scenes of the tv-series “My Brilliant Friend”, based on the first two books of Elena Ferrante’s tetralogy. After the release of the third season, which is also very popular in China, there has been a further increase in visitors. The exhibition will remain open until April 17.

For the occasion, the Italian Cultural Institute of Shanghai and the MuXin Art Museum have organized a meeting in hybrid mode, both in presence and online, which will be attended by Saverio Costanzo, director of the first two seasons, Alba Rohrwacher, narrator of Elena Greco, Marco Müller, famous film critic, as well as Francesco D’Arelli, Director of the Institute and Chen Danqing, Director of the MuXin Museum.

The exhibition consists of about 100 shots by Eduardo Castaldo (Naples, 1977), the official photographer of the series, including scene images, portraits and backstage photographs. Castaldo began his career in Acerra documenting the garbage emergency in 2006. From 2007 to 2014 he worked as a free-lance photojournalist from the Middle East for international publications. For his work on the Egyptian revolution he received numerous awards including, in 2012, the World Press Photo. He then worked as a set photographer in Matteo Garrone’s film “Reality”. Since 2016, under the pseudonym “edie”, he makes street art interventions, processing and transforming his photographic works in relation to the urban context.
