The Italian Embassy in Algeria and the Italian Cultural Institute of Algiers in cooperation with the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts present the exhibition ‘Olivetti Universe. The community as utopia’, which opens on 16 July at the Palais de la Culture Moufdi Zakaria in Algiers.

Between the 1930s and the 1960s, Adriano Olivetti realised through and around the factory in Ivrea the ideal of a visionary landscape in which industrial and technical modernisation went hand in hand with an innovative reorganisation of space and a precise idea of the relationship between the factory itself, the city, the territory and its inhabitants. In Ivrea, technological research, design, architecture, social responsibility and responsibility towards the territory were integrated in a unique and innovative model of doing business, in some ways still avant-garde today.

The exhibition project is organised in four large thematic sections, each of which is developed in an interdisciplinary key and illustrated with a great variety of graphics, original documents and reproductions. The four sections of the exhibition are: Factory, Culture and Image, City and Politics, Society.

The exhibition, realised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) in collaboration with the Fondazione MAXXI and the Fondazione Adriano Olivetti, is curated by Pippo Ciorra for MAXXI and by Francesca Limana and Matilde Trevisani for the Fondazione Adriano Olivetti, and benefits from the contribution of Olivetti S.p.A. (Main Sponsor) and Translated (Sponsor).
