During the XXI Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Italian Cultural Institute of Sofia is celebrating the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri with a rich programme of events.
These will include the evening presentation of ‘Ancora attuale, sempre divino’ (Still current, always divine), a monographic issue of Literaturen vestnik, the prestigious Bulgarian literary magazine, devoted entirely to the Supreme Poet. The event will be attended by the editors of the magazine and Pietro Cataldi, professor at the University for Foreigners of Siena.
The initiatives planned for the Week from 18 to 23 October include ‘Dante e la musica: la musica di Dante’ (Dante and music: the music of Dante), in collaboration with the National Academy of Music: an event that will present the music in the three canticles of the Commedia, with live music and song.
Finally, there is the project ‘Dante, l’italiano’ (Dante, the Italian), created in collaboration with the Department of Italian Studies at the University of San Clemente d’Ocrida in Sofia. Under the careful guidance of the teachers, the students have prepared a bilingual informative exhibition ‘Discovering Dante’ on display in Sofia in the spaces in front of the Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute.
