Within the framework of the Week of Italian Language in the World, the Italian Cultural Institute of Tokyo offers on October 19 and 20 two evenings (both in presence and online) that are dedicated to Dante on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of his passing.
After an introduction by the scholar Fujitani Michio (Keio University) and the screening of the reading of one canto by the actress Elena Bucci, two well-known Japanese novelists, Shimada Masahiko on the 19th and Ikezawa Natsuki on the 20th, will talk about their relationship to Dante and his relevance today.
Shimada Masahiko will talk about ‘The ascension to the mountain and the conversion’, while Ikezawa Natsuki will talk about ‘The Commedia as the chronicle of a journey’.
