The XXI Week of the Italian Language in the World opens in Khartoum on Sunday, October 17, with the lecture ‘The Divine Comedy and the Epistle of Forgiveness: perspectives in comparison’.

The following day at Comboni College of Science and Technology, a meeting with students of Italian will take place. Videos made by them will be screened, based on verse 19 of Canto XXVI of the Inferno.

On Tuesday, October 19 at Comboni College, the presentation will take place of the illustrated book ‘The Kings of the Sacred Mountain’ and the comic strip ‘Jebel Barkal. Gods, queens and archaeologists under the mountain’. The event is dedicated to students of Italian with the presentation of the volume on the history of the kingdom of Kush produceded by the Italian Institute of Ancient History, and the comic strip on the Italian archaeological mission to Jebel Barkal by the Ca’ Foscari University (Venice).

On Wednesday, October 20 at Comboni College, a symposium will take place called ‘The collaboration between Italy and Sudan in the field of conservation of Cultural Heritage’, as well as the screening of the documentary ‘The Italian restoration in the world’.

On Thursday, October 21, a webinar will take place with the title ‘The Italian language in Sudan: lessons learnt from the pandemics and the way ahead’. Italian has always been thaught at Comboni College, and the webinar focuses on the reopening of Italian language courses at the University of the Two Niles.

On Saturday, October 23, Omdurman Cultural Center hosts the literary and musical recital ‘Dante Concert’, by the composer Franco Eco and the actors Asia Galeotti and Emanuele Montagna.

The Week of the Italian Language ends on Sunday, October 24 with the masterclass ‘The soundtrack in the era of its technical reproducibility’, in collaboration with the ACMF – Associazione Compositori Musica per Film and within the framework of the Italian participation in the SAMA Music Festival, organized by the EUNIC cluster.
