The Italian Cultural Institute of Kiev is also celebrating Dante and the ‘language of yes’, for the XXI Week of the Italian Language in the World.
Between 18 and 24 October, Kiev will become the setting for the ‘Giornate dantesche’ (Dantean Days): presentations, round tables, international conferences, quizzes, concerts, shows, classes and lectures by teachers and experts, with the involvement of local universities, departments and Ukrainian students of Italian studies.
On 21 October, the exhibition ‘Canto dopo canto’ will open at the Khanenko Museum in Kiev; an exhibition of original drawings by the artist Giovanni Tommasi Ferroni, dedicated to the hundred cantos of Dante’s poem. The event is organized by the Institute in collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Society and the Embassy of Italy in Kiev.
The Dantean events will conclude on 29 October with the show ‘Un’altra riva. Dante’ (Another shore. Dante) at the Academic Theatre of Drama and Comedy in Kiev. A staged reading of the Comedy by director Matteo Spiazzi, ‘Un altra riva’ is conceived as the ideal guided tour along the path taken by Dante and Virgil, with the participation of Italian and Ukrainian actors and artists.
