On the occasion of the 21st edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, which is dedicated to the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death, the Italian Cultural Institute of Krakow presents an extensive series of meetings, conferences, exhibitions and concerts.
On October 18 , Prof. Luigi Marinelli of La Sapienza University will give a lecture on the theme of ‘Dante and Poland‘, followed by a talk by Prof. Cristina Coriasso of the Complutense University on ‘Dante and Spain’ (in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes of Krakow).
On the same day, Andrea Mario Bert’s exhibition ‘Memento – Nel blu dipinto di blu’ (Memento – In the Blue Painted Blue) will be inaugurated, organized in cooperation with the Emilia Romagna Region, the Municipality of Ravenna and Comites Polonia.
On October 19 there will be a concert by pianist Michele Sganga, who will perform the composition ‘Après une lecture du Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata’ by Franz Liszt.
The event continues on October 20 with a conference entitled ‘Dante and the women of the Comedy’ held by Prof. Natascia Tonelli, in collaboration with the University of Siena and the National Committee for Dante celebrations.
The events conclude on October 24 with a concert by the pianist Pietro De Maria, as part of the annual collaboration of the Institute with the Classic Piano Festival.
