On the occasion of the 21st Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney has created a rich programme of cultural events involving all the Departments of Italian Studies in the area, including the University of Sydney, the University of Wollongong, Macquarie University, UTS, University of New England and Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand).
A competition has also been launched for the creation of videos inspired by the Divine Comedy called RecitaDante2021, addressed to students of Italian, as well as a theatrical and musical event entitled ‘MusicandoDante‘, which sees the participation of an Italian actress, Rebecca Viola, and the ensemble of Australian musician Thalia Petrosian.
Together with Professor Marco Sonzogni, the Institute has also organized an exhibition on the life and works of the Supreme Poet entitled ‘DanteinPillole‘ (Bitesized Dante), with the participation of the artist Thomas Campi with a drawing dedicated to the theme.
Still in New Zealand, three young local filmmakers will make a video entitled ‘VideoDante‘, in which three young New Zealand poets will recite Dante Alighieri in three iconic locations in Wellington.
The Week will close with the annual National Conference of Italian Teachers of Australia, organized with Co.As.It under the auspices of the Embassy of Italy in Canberra.
