Italian schools abroad were also among the participants in the financial education initiative by the Bank of Italy and the Ministry of Education
The announcement and award ceremony of the winners of the 9th edition of the “Inventiamo una banconota” School Award took place on Monday 6 June at the Conference Centre of the Bank of Italy in Rome. The initiative, organized by the Bank of Italy and the Ministry of Education, once again this year saw the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, which promoted the competition to Italian state and officially recognised private schools abroad.
The Award intends to involve students in an interdisciplinary project, which consists in sketching an “imaginary” banknote. For the 2021-2022 school year, the theme of the competition was “A new beginning: restarting through the economy”, which aimed at encouraging reflection on the opportunities offered to new generations after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Among the 802 schools that participated in the project, the Cristoforo Colombo School and the Italian Cultural Centre of Buenos Aires, the Italian School of Montevideo, the Italian School Italo Calvino in Moscow and the Eugenio Montale Institute of San Paolo in Brazil had access to the intermediate selection phase.
The Governor of the Bank of Italy, Ignazio Visco, took part in the award ceremony, visible on the YouTube channel of the Bank of Italy. All information on the award is available on the initiative’s official website.
