After the successful video series, “Booktoscreen”, dedicated to TV adaptations from bestsellers, a new project links the Farnesina and its cultural network to the Turin International Book Fair: ‘Nuove voci: dentro & fuori’ (New voices: inside and outside) is an initiative which brings together young names from contemporary Italian literature with headquarters of the Italian Cultural Institutes in the world, involving independent bookshops and symbolic places of the local literary scene and facilitates dialogue between the authors and young digital literary influencers. In the second phase of the project, the events will be recorded and later broadcast, creating a real minifestival of online literature, on the platform SalTo+.
“Nuove voci” kicks off on the 22nd Week of the Italian Language in the World (17-23 October 2022), dedicated to “the Italian language and the young” and, in this first phase, includes three stages in Europe:
On 19 October Irene Graziosi will be a guest at the Italian Cultural Institute of Vienna, and will talk about her novel Il profilo dell’altra (published by E/O) with Jaqueline Scheiber (Minusgold). Viennese writer and “content creator” Jaqueline Scheiber makes posts about writing and fashion. It will be moderated by Silvia Chiarini, head of the Italian section of the bookshop Hartliebs Bücher;
On 27 October Lorenza Pieri will be a guest at the Italian Cultural Institute of Edinburgh, where, in conversation with the multilingual scholar and writer Esa Aldegheri, she will discuss her novel Il giardino dei mostri (published by E/O).
On 21 November Vincenzo Latronico will be a guest at the Italian Cultural Institute of Oslo, in collaboration with the University of the Norwegian capital, and will meet students of Italian and the public speaking about his novel Le perfezioni (published by Bompiani) with Astrid Nordang, writer and translator from German and Italian, who won the Kritikerprisen (Critics’ Prize) 2021 for her translation of Natalia Ginzburg’s Family Lexicon.
