Among the activities promoted by the National Committee for the Centenary of Leonardo Sciascia, chaired by Senator Emma Bonino, the ‘Sciascian Lessons’ project plays a particularly important role. Promoted by Associazione Amici di Leonardo Sciascia, ‘Todomodo’ magazine, the University for Foreigners of Perugia, the Treccani Institute of the Italian Encyclopaedia and the publisher Olschki, this project involves a series of events that have already begun in Italy (where they will continue until September 2021) and will then continue around the world, with very different and distant organisations and countries passing on the baton, all driven by their desire to read and reread Sciascia’s work in a cosmopolitan context.
After the ‘Lessons in Italy’ initiative (held at the Venice, Palermo and Perugia centres), the Sciascian Lessons will take place from the second half of 2021 until 2023 in various cities around the world, thanks to the collaboration of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Embassy in Teheran and nine Italian Cultural Institutes, the Sciasciane Lessons will take place in numerous cities around the world:
