‘The last Holocene hunter-gatherers and the study of the Neolithic transition in Tunisia’.

Research project by the Sapienza University of Rome 5, P.le Aldo Moro, 00185 Rome (RM)

The project, operational since 2012and led by Prof. Alfredo Coppa, has the objective of understanding the dynamics of transformation of the last Capsian hunter-gatherer societies and the Neolithization in the eastern Maghreb as far as Phoenician colonization. The project will continue excavation of the last layers of settlement of the Neolithic village of Doukanet el Khoutifa (VI-V millennium BC) and the associated necropolis and the excavation of a Punic necropolis in the Carthage area.
