The Italian Cultural Institute of Addis Ababa, the official body of the Italian State, aims to promote and improve awareness of the Italian language and culture in Ethiopia through the organization of cultural events to encourage the circulation of ideas, arts and sciences.
The Italian Cultural Institute of Addis Ababa offers the following services to the Ethiopian public and beyond:
- courses in Italian language and culture held mainly by native Italian teachers;
- up to three annual exam sessions to obtain a certificate of proficiency in Italian as a foreign language;
- an Italian library open to students and members with videos, DVDs, Italian magazines, journals and newspapers and for book consultation and loans;
- information and documentation service on Italian culture.
The Institute works in collaboration with with local art and museum institutions and cultural organizations of the European Union, such as the British Council, the Goethe Institut and the Alliance Française.
