The Italian Cultural Institute of Athens is the cultural office of the Embassy of Italy in Greece. Its goal is to promote and develop cultural relations between Italy and Greece.
According to the cultural agreement between Italy and Greece in force since 1954, the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens:
- promotes exchanges between Greek bodies, institutions, offices with their Italian counterparts;
- curates and organizes cultural events, such as exhibitions, concerts, shows and conferences in collaboration with Greek and Italian bodies, both public and private;
- provides information on study grants and study opportunities in Italy;
- undertakes educational activities by organizing refresher seminars, exams for certifying proficiency in the Italian language, courses in language and culture for adults and children, courses on sector-related issues.
The Italian Cultural Institute of Athens was named after Alberto Carlo Pisani Dossi, who used the pseudonym Carlo Dossi, an Italian writer and diplomat.
