The Italian Cultural Institute in Lebanon is also the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Italy, whose institutional aim is to promote and improve awareness of the Italian language and culture through language courses and cultural events to encourage the circulation of ideas, arts and sciences. Another goal is to promote cultural exchange between Italy and Lebanon.
Services:
The Italian Cultural Institute in Lebanon offers the following services to the Lebanese public:
- courses in Italian language and culture held by qualified teachers, in all locations
- two annual Quality Italian Language Certification (CLIQ) exam sessions: CILS, PLIDA and DITALS, in the Hamra building
- a library, a video library, a newspaper library and a reading room offering Italian newspapers, magazines and journals, in the Hamra building
- information and documentation on Italian culture
- completion of the formalities for Lebanese citizens to enrol at Italian universities and academies of art and music. It manages the study grants offered by universities and language schools, both public and private.
- refresher courses for Italian language teachers
- collaboration and support for translators and publishing houses for the publication of works by Italian writers and publications by Lebanese authors on topics relating to Italian culture
- collaboration with Italian researchers and students for their academic work in Lebanon
