Italian Cultural Institute of Mexico City

The Italian Cultural Institute is the cultural office of the Embassy of Italy in Mexico and, as such, it carries out all the procedures for the implementation of the cultural cooperation agreement between Italy and Mexico: study grants, enrolment at Italian universities and schools, recognition of academic qualifications.

The main purpose of the Institute is to promote and improve awareness of the Italian language and culture. Courses in Italian language and culture are organized (literature, art, theatre, film, translation, Latin, etc.), as well as cooking and wine making courses, at the Institute and in collaboration with various Mexican universities and schools.

The Institute also: organizes and promotes, in collaboration with the main Mexican and Italian institutions, cultural events such as exhibitions, film festivals, concerts, conferences, theatre and dance performances; promotes the participation of Italian artists in the leading festivals in the country; ensures the presence of authors, publishers and books at international book fairs; promotes and develops inter-university relations and the cooperation of education systems.

The Institute’s library offers more than 21,000 books, 120 Italian magazines and journals and around 1,400 videos and DVDs.

The Institute also offers an Italian bookshop and a cafeteria open to the public.
