The Italian Cultural Institute is the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Italy and aims to promote and improve awareness of the Italian language and culture in Norway.
Services
The Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo offers the following services to the Norwegian public:
- an Italian library for the consultation and loan of books and DVDs
- information and documentation on Italian culture
- university guidance and information on Italian schools, academies and universities
In addition, the Italian Institute of Culture of Oslo:
- hosts film screenings, exhibitions, concerts, conferences, seminars and many other cultural events
- manages the refresher courses for Italian teachers in Norway
- manages the awarding of study grants offered by the Italian government to Norwegian citizens
- manages relations with Italian language assistants at Norwegian universities
Collaborations
For major events, the Institute works in collaboration with:
- the local Italian offices (Embassy, Office of the Scientific Attaché, ENIT (Italian National Tourist Board)
- local art institutions and museums, such as the Nasjonalmuseet for Kunst Arkitektur og Design, DOGA, Kistefos-Museet, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter , Norsk Filminstitutt, Vigelandsmuseet, CODA, Den Norske Opera & Ballet
- the other European cultural centres in Oslo
- the Norwegian committees of Dante Alighieri association
- the COMITES Oslo
- the Italian-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce (NIHK)
- Norwegian universities and academies
- numerous institutions dependent on the Norwegian Ministry of Culture or the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
