The Italian Cultural Institute of Paris is a body of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation whose role is to promote and improve awareness of the Italian language and culture. Among its main tasks: the organizing cultural initiatives on the theme of Italy, Italian cultural, artistic and scientific life and courses in Italian language and culture.
The Italian Cultural Institute in Paris offers the following services to the public:
- courses in Italian language and culture taught by qualified native Italian teachers
- two annual exam sessions to obtain the Certificate of Italian as a Foreign Language, issued by the Universities for Foreigners of Perugia and Siena
- an Italian library open to the public for the consultation and loan of Italian books, videotapes, DVDs and magazines, journals and newspapers
- an information and documentation service on Italy, in the various cultural areas
