Italian Cultural Institute of Vilnius

The Italian Cultural Institute of Vilnius, the official body of the Italian State, aims to promote and improve awareness of the Italian language and culture in Lithuania through the organization of Italian language courses and cultural events to promote the circulation of ideas, arts and sciences.


The Italian Cultural Institute in Vilnius offers the following services to the public:

  • Courses in Italian language and culture held by qualified native Italian teachers
  • Two annual exam sessions for the Certificate of Italian Language (CILS)
  • An Italian Media Library and Library open to students and members of the “Amici dell’Istituto” association which is open for the consultation and loan of Italian books, CDs, magazines and newspapers
  • Information and documentation on Italian culture and studying in Italy
  • Cineclub


The Institute works in collaboration with the main local bodies and major local institutions in its programming.

For conferences, seminars and master classes, the Institute works in collaboration with with:

  • universities and academic institutions, such as Vilniaus universitetas, Vilniaus pedagoginis universitetas, Vilniaus dailės akademija, Lietuvos muzikos ir teatro akademija and Kauno Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas

The main festivals and events in which the Institute usually takes part include:

  •  the Vilniaus festivalis, the Kaunas Jazz Festival, the Senosios muzikos festivalis “Musical banquet”, “Kino pavasaris”, “Skamba skamba kankliai”, “Mados infekcija”, thePažaislio muzikos festivalis

The Institute also participates in the Book Fair and the Education Fair held at the Vilnius LITEXPO Exhibition Centre every year at the end of February.
