Italian Mission in Jebel Barkal (Sudan)

‘Italian Archaeological Mission in Sudan – Jebel Barkal Sudan’.

The Italian Archaeological Project in Sudan – Jebel Barkal, led since 2011 and by Prof. Emanuele Marcello Ciampini, investigates the Meroitic area of the Napata site. The work has restored the whole of the profile of the Natakamani Palace (1st century AD), which is currently one of the most monumental Meroitic palatial foundations in Sudan. Together with the main building, the project is reconstructing a complex system of structures that reveal the profile of the royal city of Natakamani in Napata.
