‘The palaeoecological context of the origins of humanity: the case of Buia, Eritrea’.
University of Florence, Piazza S. Marco 4, 50121 Florence (FI), Italy.
The human fossil remains recently identified in the Buia area (Eritrea) provide new insight towards understanding the most ancient phases in the history of mankind. Continuing the geological, palaeontological and palaeoanthropological studies in the Buia basin offers new opportunities for research and collaboration towards the development of specific and managerial skills between Italian institutions and young recruits working in museums and scientific institutions in Eritrea. The project has been operational since 2012 under the guidance of Prof. Lorenzo Rook.
