Among the extraordinary collections held in the National Museum in Damascus, the large garden in front of the museum building also houses an important collection of archaeological materials, including sculptures, reliefs, sarcophagi and architectural pieces. The Italian mission of Sapienza University of Rome is aimed at the study, documentation, valorisation-restoration and installation as an open-air museum.
