‘Restoration of the tomb of Aelia Arisuth in Gargaresc’.

ICR – Istituto centrale per il restauro, via di San Michele, 25 Roma, 00153 Rome (RM), Italy.

The restoration project of the Aelia Arisuth tomb in Gargaresh (Tripoli) began in 2012, led by Prof. Barbara Davidde, in response to a specific need of the Department of Antiquities of Libya, which asked the Italian projects operating in Libya for technical-scientific support to save this precious artifact of the Roman imperial age. The ICR offered to be the reference institution in carrying out the operations, which include not only restoring the wall paintings but also replacing the roof.
