The palaeoenvironmental context of human evolution in the Plio-Pleistocene of South Africa
University of Turin, Via Verdi 8, 10124 Torino (TO), Italy
South Africa is a crucial place for the study of the evolution of humanity. This process has seen the different species of hominids first, and Homo later, adapt to the major climatic-environmental changes of the last 4 million years. The study of bird and reptile remains from the Plio-Pleistocene localities of the Cradle of Humankind could contribute to our knowledge of the environmental changes to which the early hominids were able to adapt and then spread across the planet.
