The Italian Ethnological Project in Equatorial Africa has been active since 1979 (currently led by Prof. Alessandro Gusman) in the African region of the Great Lakes, conducting ethnological, ethnomusicological, ethno-historical, political, museum and archival research. In the last few years, the Project has focused on enhancing the local cultural heritage, analyzing conflict scenarios in the cross-border area of Rwenzori and, more recently, on issues relating to the mobility and reception of refugees.
