Mactaris, From the Numidian Age to the Islamic Age: Stratifications of Urban Form.
Tor Vergata University of Rome, Via Cracovia 50, 00133 Roma (RM), Italy
Ancient Mactaris, located about 150 km south-west of Carthage, was an important Punic-Numidian centre. The city underwent several stratifications over time, starting from prehistoric times until its presumed abandonment in the 11th century AD. The project, born from a framework agreement between the University of Rome Tor Vergata and the Institute National du Patrimoine (INP), proposes an evaluation of the entire archaeological area through digital mapping, reconnaissance and stratigraphic surveys.
