‘Port Louis, Mauritius. An Archaeological History of a Tropical City’.
University of Venezia ‘Ca’ Foscari’, Dorsoduro 3439/A, 30123 Venezia (VE), Italy.
The topographic survey project in Port Louis-Mauritius started in 2019 and aims to reconstruct the stages of construction of the city through an advanced archaeological and historical GIS (Geographical Information System). 3D reconstructions and archaeological investigations of the elevations analyse the urban development. The study of the urban layout describes the iterations among the social, political and military groups that have shaped the tropical city. The project has been led by Prof. Diego Calaon since 2019.
