‘Eimawa Egyptian-Italian Mission at West Aswan’.

In 2017, the Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Khaled el-Enani proposed a project to Patrizia Piacentini, from the University of Milan, to excavate and protect the area of the Aga Khan Mausoleum in Aswan, threatened by illegal excavations. This resulted in an Italian-Egyptian research project that has mapped over 300 tombs, some excavated with significant results. The priority objectives are excavation, interdisciplinary study, redevelopment of the area and training.
