The school was founded in 1886 in response to the desire of the Italian immigrant communities to keep alive ties with the language and culture of the motherland. Since then, the Italian School of Montevideo has pursued a national and international educational project that opens the doors to a multilingual and multicultural world. The pupils enjoy the privileged environment of an extensive property with several buildings and a park, thus offering the opportunity of expanding the learning space and promoting direct contact with nature. Therefore, the learning spaces go beyond the walls of the classroom and the environments, natural or virtual, stimulate curiosity, exploration, the search for solutions and greater participation. The curriculum focuses on building a sense of responsible citizenship in a multicultural and multilingual environment, in addition to promoting Italian language and culture.
