“Italo Calvino” Italian School – Moscow

The School was founded in 1973 on the initiative of Ambassador Pietro Vinci in response to the needs of the Italian community in Moscow, allocating some rooms in the Italian Embassy in Moscow to teaching. The school was initially attended by the children of officials from the Embassy, the Institute for Foreign Trade and of the employees of some industrial and banking groups in the capital. In 1985, the management was transferred to the “Italian Committee” of Moscow, a non-profit organization, while remaining under the aegis of the Embassy. In 1987, the primary and lower secondary schools received official legal recognition. Since the 1990s, the student population has gradually expanded, requiring new teaching spaces. The school has been in its current location since 2000. In 2007, the nursery, primary school and secondary school were recognized as state-authorized private schools, with the addition of the Liceo Linguistico in 2016.
