Italian Mission in Tell el-Maskhuta and Wadi Tumilat (Egypt)

‘Progetto pilota Tell el-Maskhuta e Wadi Tumilat’.

CNR, Piazzale Aldo Moro 7, 00185 Rome (RM), Italy.

The interdisciplinary project, active and led by Dr Andrea Angelini since 2013, studies Tell el-Maskhuta, an important border city between Egypt and the Levant along the Wadi Tumilat, dry river valley that connected the Mediterranean and the Red Sea in ancient times. The large city, with its huge fortress, is investigated and documented using advanced technology. The project also studies archival materials. Finally, the project also foresees training activities for young Egyptian researchers and the sharing of results with the local population.
