The project concerns the site of Elaiussa Sebaste, a city in Cilicia, on the south-east coast of Anatolia. The excavation (begun in 1995 and currently led by Prof. Francesco Camia) has  provided evidence of continued settlement from the 2nd century BC to the 7th century AD It is one of the most important ports in Cilicia, at the crossroads between Syria, Egypt, Cyprus and the Anatolian peninsula. The project objective is the multidisciplinary study of Elaiussa, not just for scientific knowledge but also for conservation and valorization.
