The financial education initiative is back and this year it is open to Italian primary and secondary schools around the world.
‘Inventiamo una banconota’ (‘Let’s Invent a Banknote’) 2021/2022
The 9th School Award ‘Inventiamo una banconota’ is now launched by Banca d’Italia (National Bank of Italy) and the Italian Ministry of Education. As in the past editions, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation promotes the initiative to Italian schools abroad (state and state-authorised private schools).
The Award aims to engage young people in an interdisciplinary project, which requires students to invent and create sketches of an ‘imaginary’ banknote. For the school year 2021/2022, the theme of the competition is ‘A New Beginning: Restarting through Economics’. This topic aims to promote reflection on the opportunities that the economic and financial restart of Italy can offer to the new generations, after the pandemic.
Primary school pupils will be asked to draw a sketch on paper or in digital format, while first and second grade secondary schools will be only required to submit the sketch in digital format. In addition, the sketch will be accompanied by a short text describing the elaboration process, the motivations beyond any decision, and the message conveyed.
To register their interest, classes will need to send the dedicated form to premioperlascuola@bancaditalia.it by 18 February 2022. The sketches will have to be submitted by 14 March 2022 (6 pm Italian time), through an app that will be made available to the schools participating in the project.
Up for grabs are 3 prizes equal to ten thousand euros to be used to support and develop educational activities.
The regulation, the registration form and any further information are available on the Award website.
