The Italian Cultural Institute of San Paolo hosts the exhibition ‘Le Piazze [In]visibili’, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, conceived and curated by Marco Delogu. Produced during the early days of lockdown in Italy in 2020, when cities were forced to resort to the drastic closure of businesses to prevent the spread of coronavirus and the town and city squares, which have always been a place of gathering for locals and thousands of tourists, found themselves completely empty.

Photographers and writers were invited to portray a square with which they have a strong bond, both for personal reasons and for spatial proximity.

The involvement of the forty authors and the dialogue generated between them were the stimulating part of this work. – Marco Delogu

The guests included the writers Valerio Magrelli, Francesco Zanot, Helena Janeczek, and the photographers Eva Frapiccini, Luca Campigotto and Margherita Nuti.

The exhibition installed in the garden of the Institute is open to the public: from Monday to Thursday, from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 5 pm; Friday, from 10 am to 1 pm.
